Estero is located north of Naples and South of Fort Myers. Much of the town's initial development was situated near Estero Creek. This former citrus community has been carefully developed into a planned neighborhood and is home to over 22,000 people.
It offers a refreshing, vibrant lifestyle where gated communities emerge in a structured, organized fashion. Estero has a strong retail presence and is home to major commercial anchors. These include the Germain Arena, Coconut Point and Gulf Coast Center.
One factor that draws families to this rapidly growing neighborhood is the presence of reputable schools. These include Florida Gulf Coast University, Estero High and Pinewoods Elementary. The elementary school serves grades PK to 5, and the high school educates students from grades 9 to 12. Estero is home to a highly educated population. For example, over 40 percent of adults hold a four-year college degree, compared to just over 20 percent nationwide.
The median listing price for real estate in Estero is between $315,000 and $320,000. This translates to just over $170 per square foot. Properties here have become more affordable over the last decade. Since they tend to spend more than three months on the market, you will be able to shop around for the home of your dreams without feeling pressured. Most of the properties are newer and were built after 2000, but the average age is only 11 years.
Parks and Beaches
Residents have numerous noteworthy recreational opportunities. These include the Estero Bay Preserve State Park, the Estero Community Park and Recreation Center, and the Koreshan State Historic Site. Because of its strategic location between Naples and Fort Myers, residents have access to plenty of beaches. One of the most popular is the sandy beach area at the San Carlos Bay/Bunche Beach Preserve, a 719-acre outdoor lover's paradise that is located 30 minutes northwest of this community.
Estero is also home to the Stoneybrook Golf Club. Its superb 72-par championship course has seven sets of tees and was designated beginner-friendly by the National Golf Course Owners Association. At almost 7,400 yards, it's one of southwestern Florida's longest courses.
